Dear Families,
Friends and
Members of the
Boys' Brigade,
•
Our Valentines
Fair was a huge
success!
We were
blessed with
beautiful
weather and a
great response.
We were
complimented on
the organization
of the event and
the nice
atmosphere in
the hall. The
officers want to
thank all the
girls and boys,
and those
parents,
grandparents,
friends and
family who
worked so hard
to make it such
an enjoyable
day.
The Car Wash in
particular was
very popular –
so much so,
those helping
could hardly
keep pace with
the demand. Next
year we hope to
have even more
willing hands so
that we can have
shifts like we
had last year!
That way we can
do an even
better job and
still have fun
doing it! This
year many people
who worked all
day long were
literally
‘washed out’ by
days end. This
is an extremely
labour intensive
part of the fair
and they raised
the most $,
beating the
Plant Stall by
$200+. Thanks to
those leaders
and parents who
helped the boys
and girls! The
White Elephant
and New Goods
Stalls are also
very labour
intensive – and
we do need more
help unpacking
and packing away
next year. We
especially thank
those loyal
leaders and
parents who do
help year after
year – before
and after the
fair!
We are very
pleased to
announce that
the fair raised
a record $9,115
which will be
shared equally
between the
Brigades, once
various expenses
have been paid.
Please note that
there were some
plants left over
from the fair
which we will
continue to sell
for BB from our
house ... if you
know anyone
looking for
plants. There
are several
Olivewoods,
other endemics
and shrubs left.
Seniors please
wear old clothes
because we will
be painting Blue
Bird Boxes.
•
Please note that
this Sunday,
February 22 is
our Youth
Service/ Parade
Sunday. Boys
need to be in
the hall by
10:15am in full
uniform with
badges on
armbands if you
have been
awarded them.
We are on duty
Sunday, March 22
for the Youth
Service/ Parade
Sunday and it is
also Mothering
Sunday,
so the boys will
be handing out
posies to the
ladies in
church. Since it
will be our turn
for church
duties, we will
ask parents to
contribute to
the refreshments
in the hall
afterwards.
•
Remember that
there will not
be any Boys’
Brigade on
Friday, March 6,
in order that
the Pembroke
Rotary can set
up for their
children's fair
on the Saturday.
If any of the
seniors have
community hours
to fulfill, they
are welcome to
add to them by
assisting Rotary
to set up the
hall that
evening.
•
The
Easter Camp for
Burts Island is
being planned
for
possibly
March 29 to
April 5 for
those brigade
members who are
10 years old and
up (younger boys
must be
accompanied by
an adult) and
who have been
conscientious
and regular
members of our
brigade. More
details will be
available next
month.
