NOTICES

June 12, 2010

Dear Parents and Members of the Boys’ Brigade,

Please note that we have had to change the conditions for our annual June Family weekend camp! As all boys must now be accompanied by an adult, we require that at least one adult per family be present   at the camp. However, it will be fine if one parent is willing to supervise and be responsible for 2 or 3 boys (e.g. their son and a friend). This is necessary since I am unable to be at the camp for most of the day on Saturday this year. Please note that there will be no exceptions to this – for safety reasons. The venue is Admiralty House Park as usual, from 18 – 20 June. We will be using the Boy Scouts building again. All families are very welcome .... Please supply your own tent, Saturday lunch and snacks for your family for this camp, and we will supply the two breakfast and dinner meals. The camp will officially end at 11 am on Sunday morning but families are welcome to stay and enjoy the rest of the day at the camp site if they wish.

All those who are camping .... please remember to bring your plates, cups and utensils for meals,  in an effort to create less trash.

There will also be the usual Company barbeque at 6:30 pm until 8:30 pm on the Friday night, 18 June for everyone but again, all boys must be accompanied by an adult. Please email asap to confirm your attendance at the barbeque and also the camp so that we can arrange for catering. The deadline for RSVPs (by email or in writing) to both events is Saturday, 12 June.

Fidelity Couples Road Race Sunday June 27. As usual, we have been asked to man 3 water stops, one out by Point Mart, one by Hamilton Princess and the other near the Cenotaph, same as previous years. The race starts at 8:30 am and the Boys’ Brigade are given a generous donation for their services.

Our special 50th Anniversary badges will be awarded at our Founder’s Day parade but all members have to earn them by logging the hours, documenting details and taking some photos of 50 hours of community service required by 1 October. We have “time sheets” available for this purpose.

18 June will be our last Friday night until we resume 17 September.

2009/2010 Awards & Promotions will be presented in October on the Friday before our Founder's Day Parade.

18 JUNE WILL BE OUR LAST FRIDAY NIGHT UNTIL WE RESUME 17 SEPTEMBER.

2009/2010 AWARDS & PROMOTIONS WILL BE PRESENTED IN OCTOBER.

March 19, 2010

The Easter Camp for Burts Island is being planned for Monday, April 5 to Saturday, April 10 for those brigade members who are 10 years old and up (younger boys must be accompanied by an adult in order to attend) and who have been conscientious and regular members of our brigade. We would appreciate more feedback as to which boys would be interested in attending this year's camp. I will be posting a camp notice on the website.

NB. Friday, March 26 will be our last meeting before Easter – April 2 is Good Friday and Easter Camp includes Friday, April 9 – therefore there will not be a meeting on either of those Friday evenings. Our summer term begins April 16.

Please remember that the MarketPlace is donating $1 in food vouchers for every $100 in  grocery receipts turned in by the churches of Bermuda so that they can distribute the vouchers to families in need. So simply save your receipts from any MarketPlace stores and put them into the box at the entrance to the hall or the church. It’s a very easy way to help and this promotion ends on April 30.

March 12, 2010

•  Remember to set your clocks forward one hour as we begin Daylight Savings this Sunday and we also have our March Parade – Mothering Sunday, March 14. As usual the Boys’ Brigade will give out the usual Mothering Sunday posie of spring flowers to all the Mothers as a thank you for all their care and love throughout the year.

On this Sunday, it is our turn to do church duties and we would like to supply some goodies for coffee hour. Anyone who is able, please bring a plate of cookies, sandwiches or any suitable finger foods. This will be our last parade until October, so please come and bring your mothers, grandmothers, godmothers, etc!

Full uniform (long sleeve white shirts and long blue pants) must be worn complete with ties (red for Anchors and blue for Juniors and Seniors) – please make sure you have your badges on the shirt pockets! Those boys who have earned badges should wear them on their armbands. All boys should be in the hall by 10:10am to get their hats and line-up, ready to march up to the church at 10:25am.

March 5, 2010

Please remember that there will not be any Boys’ Brigade this week –  Friday, March 5, in order that the Pembroke Rotary can set up for their annual Children's Fair this Saturday.

Please also remember that the March Parade has been moved to March 14 – so that the boys can give out the usual Mothering Sunday posies in church on the actual Mothering Sunday. On this Sunday, it is our turn to do church duties and supply some goodies for coffee hour. Anyone who is able, please bring a plate of cookies, sandwiches or any suitable finger foods. This will be our last parade until October, so please come and invite the special ladies in your life to attend – your mothers, grandmothers, godmothers etc! Full uniform (long sleeve white shirts and long blue pants) must be worn complete with ties (red for Anchors and blue for Juniors and Seniors) – please make sure you have your badges on the shirt pockets! February 19, 2010

Thank you to those who helped and worked so hard at the Valentine’s Fair last weekend.  The weather was definitely not in our favour, but we did mange to make a profit of about $5,175.61.  We were very proud of our boys who pitched in and helped out on various stalls since there was not much car washing going on!  We really appreciate the support we get  –  from the boys, their families & friends as well as our own family and friends, and the St. Paul’s Church family.  Please note that there were some plants left over from the fair which we are selling these from our house for the BB ... if you know anyone looking for plants!

Please remember that the next Youth Service is Sunday, February 28.  The March Parade has been moved to March 21 instead of March 28, so that the boys can give out the usual Mothering Sunday posies.

Please also remember that there will not be any Boys’ Brigade on Friday, March 5, in order that the Pembroke Rotary can set up for their Children's Fair on the Saturday.

Please promote the fair, tell your family and friends about the fair
and make sure that the posters which the boys will bring home are
displayed in grocery stores, schools, office billboards, etc. We will
be on David Lopes radio show at 7.15 am prior to the fair and closer
to the fair, we will share an electronic flyer which can be sent to
family, friends and colleagues as an email blast.

If you have any ideas or suggestions for a more successful fair –
please share them with one of our leaders.
